Do It Yourself Pool Fence Pitfalls
Planning on buying a generic pool fence and installing it yourself?
Think again! This is not new paint for the den or Fido's new dog house, this is a vital part of family safety and peace of mind. Why risk it all, for the sake of saving the price of a weekly cup of coffee over the life of the fence.
Watching a professional installer, it may look easy, but practice makes perfect, and having the right tools for the job helps. We install hundreds of removable fences a year and know exactly what we are doing and why.
Before you say "I can do that" please note these essential details:
- Measure the hole placement accurately to within 1/16".
- Check your measurements again! There are no second chances,
- Do not use a hammer drill,
- Do use a water cooled drill motor on a stand with a built in spirit level and precise angle adjustments,
- Do use a diamond coring bit exactly the size of the fence specifications,
- Unless the fence is a straight line, don't drill any holes vertically, but angle them precisely opposite to the pull of the fence,
And thats just to drill a hole. Don't do it yourself. We charge a lot more to fix errors than to install from scratch.
